Prof. Harvey B. Newman is Professor of Physics at the California Institute of Technology, where he chairs the Committee on Exchange Programs and Study Abroad and is a member of the Committee on Educational Technology. He is the head and principal investigator of the US LHCNet project, linking the USA and CERN in support of CERN’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC) physics program. He and his team have established 12 Internet2 Land Speed Records since 2002, and he led the international consortium that won three Bandwidth Challenge Awards at SuperComputing events in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Newman is a member of Internet2’s Architecture and Operations Advisory Council and its Strategic Planning Execution Committee. Since 2002 he has chaired the Standing Committee on Interregional Connectivity of ICFA, and in this role he has worked in many countries to help advance their information technology infrastructure and the means to use this infrastructure effectively, for research and education, as well as economic development.
Philippe D. Galvez is a founder and CEO of Evogh, Inc. He is a serial entrepreneur and an active member of several Internet2 commissions including Internet2 Real-Time Communication Advisory Group, the Internet2 Digital Video Steering Committee, and the ESnet Real-Time Collaboration Working group. His work in these committees contributes significantly to the development of new communication tools, while strengthening international cooperation through the effective use if these technologies for research and education. Mr. Galvez has a MS in Engineering and Telecommunication from ENST Paris and a specialization in Multimedia Technologies from the Eurecom Institute in Sofia-Antipolis, France.
